ABFN TRaining Principles
Create Resilience: Humans are not inherently fragile: we’re built to grow and overcome. Fitness and nutrition is all about creating resilience within the body and mind.
Build the Basics: To find success, you have to start at the beginning and master the basics of fitness and nutrition. This not only sets the foundation, but when “the basics” are done well, you’re already 85% of the way there!
Effort vs. Efficacy: Yes, hard work will be necessary, sometimes. But smart work is non-negotiable. Don’t get caught up chasing hard work, focus on chasing effective work.
Tools are Better Than Rules: Having the right options for your body and your life is what leads to success. Flexibility, not rigidity, will get you where you need to go to meet all your fitness and nutrition needs.
ABFN Core values
Education: Education is one of the key pillars of lasting success in fitness and nutrition. Understanding not just the what, but also the why and how gives you the ability to make fitness part of your life long term.
Experience: In addition to education, experience is something I seek to give my clients when working with them. When you implement your education, you gain experience and a deeper understanding of how your body works and what works best for you.
Consistency: Consistency is key for long term success. It’s not always about what you’re doing, but how consistently you do it. You could eat super healthy for 3 weeks and feel great, but if you don’t continue to focus on your health after those 3 weeks, the changes you’ve seen aren’t sustainable. Through consistent education and experience, my clients are able to get lasting results, whether they work with me every week, or are part of my 8-week program. Fat loss is about the long game: one of the biggest mistakes you can make is expecting drastic changes too soon, and giving up when you don’t see them!
Mindset: There are some parts of fitness and nutrition training we can’t control (our body shape, our weight) and some we can. Mindset is one of the biggest aspects we have control over when it comes to fat loss. Our mindset is foundation for it all. If our head is not in the right place we won't be able to get where we want to go, which is why it’s a core value I teach in my personal training and group programming.
